Heatless air dryers are the simplest form of desiccant dryers, achieving a dew point of -40°C or better for instrument air systems and other gas drying applications. The process begins with wet, incoming compressed air passing through a pre-filter, where liquid mist particles are coalesced, separated, and collected at the bottom. These are then discharged via an auto drain valve. Next, the air passes through an activated carbon filter, which absorbs all oil vapor, making the air oil-free. The oil-free air then moves to Absorber I, where it passes upward through a desiccant bed, typically made of activated alumina or molecular sieves. The air is dried by adsorption in this stage. Finally, the dry compressed air passes through a check valve assembly and an after-filter before reaching the application or work area. This straightforward and efficient process ensures high-quality, dry air for various industrial uses.
